16歳の時に父親の一眼レフを手に、夢中だったロックバンドを撮り始める。アメリカへ渡り、ロチェスター工科大学で写真を専攻し、卒業後、バックステージのパイオニアであるRoxanne Lowitをメンターとし、ニューヨークでフォトグラファーとして活動を始める。2016年に16年ぶりにアメリカから日本へ拠点を移し、現在、ニューヨークでの経験をいかし東京を中心に活動中。SHOKOは人との出会いや繋がりを尊重し、ファッションをはじめ、アスリート・俳優・ミュージシャンなどジャンルを問わず, そして数々の日本を代表する政治家や経営者まで幅広く撮影をしている。帰国後はインバウンドビジネス向けのクライアントも多く持ちトラベル撮影を始め海外進出の手助けとなる撮影もしている。これまでのクライアントは、ANA・Asics・Bloomberg L.P.・ Bloomberg Businessweek・Billecart-Salmon Champagne・Cadillac・CASIO・Forbes Japan・Google Japan・Mizuno・Manchester City・Microsoft・New York Times・SONY Music・Warner Music・London Observer・ServiceNOW・Paramount Pictures・楽天・吉本興業・森ビル・福砂屋・DELTA SKY・Purple Magazine・Nylon・ Bullett・Black Book・and DSW・Vogue Italy・Vogue Japan・Harpers Bazaar・25ans・Cosmopolitan・ などを含む。

Tokyo-based photographer Shoko Takayasu first picked up a camera when she was 16 years old — she grabbed her dad’s SLR to shoot a rock band performing in her home-city, Tokyo. After studying at Rochester Institute of Technology, New York, the Japan born artist broke out of her early musical beginnings finding that everything from fashion to literature could be a catalyst for her creativity ("Inspiration comes through all my six senses.")
